"I have been working in a realism style for the past 30 years using the medium of colored pencil and acrylic paint.  Originally my subjects were urban street scenes capturing reflections in glass windows, colorful and tenuous neon signs, street, and automobiles.  The mechanical aspects of these scenes led to works depicting aircraft and motorcycles; where the real nature of the artwork was the reflection in chrome and its inherent color."

"Later my interest turned to work involving toys.  Some old, some new, but mostly tin toys.  Perhaps it's a nostalgia thing; but their colorfulness and reflective qualities lend themselves well to creating still lifes.  Combining them with old books, maps, and other things I find interesting create some interesting stories.  These works are small vignettes of life; a portion taken from a whole, that represents a deeper understanding of common everyday things around us.  Whether it's the brilliance of the color in a child's toy or the reflection in a glass, I want to draw attention the the extraordinary in the ordinary."

"I was born in Aberdeen, Mississippi, but grew up in East Tennessee.  My father kept me supplied with art materials and I constantly drew page after page of whatever interested me.  I can't remember a time when I haven't done it.  I graduated from Middle Tennessee State University in the 70's and somehow gained a passion for realist work which i continue to explore to this day."
